And We had already taken a promise from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found not in him determination.
The Saheeh International Quran Translation
وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِىَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْمًاAnd We had already taken a promise from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found not in him determination.
